Still finding SKL engine parts when others say no
SKL engines were built to last, and many 6NVD48A‑2U, NVD36 and NVD26 engines are still running forty years on. Their parts are not. If you have been told "not available", send us the part number. Liners, pistons, bearings, valves and fuel injection parts are what we look for every day.

Built in Magdeburg by Schwermaschinenbau "Karl Liebknecht". The letters after the number matter, so please copy the type exactly as it is on the engine nameplate.

How to read an SKL type code
The type code on the nameplate is the first thing we check. Here is what it tells you.
Where two numbers appear, as in NVD36/24, the first is the stroke and the second the bore, both in centimetres. Letters that mark the execution change which parts fit, so please send the full code together with the engine serial number.
Engines with a long Magdeburg pedigree
Engine building in Magdeburg goes back almost two centuries. That is why so many SKL engines are still at sea, and why we think they deserve proper parts.

Old SKL documents write the same number with or without dashes. Either way is fine.

We are a small team, and engine parts are most of what we do. When your RFQ arrives, one of us reads it, checks each part number against your engine, and writes back to you personally.
If a part is original, we say so. If it is surplus or a replacement, we say that too. We would rather lose a line than send the wrong part to a ship.
SKL parts can travel in the same shipment as your Wärtsilä, MAN or MaK parts, to the ship or to the yard.

Questions about SKL parts
Are SKL engine spare parts still available?
Yes. The engines are no longer built, but parts are still out there: original surplus stock and specialised makers. We use both, and our quote tells you which one each line comes from.
What does the SKL engine designation mean?
The number shows the piston stroke in centimetres, so NVD48 has a 48 cm stroke. Where two numbers are given, as in NVD36/24, the second is the cylinder bore in centimetres. "A" indicates a turbocharged version.
What do you need from us to quote?
Engine type, serial number, part number, quantity and port. No part number? A clear photo of the old part and the catalogue page usually does the job.
Where do you deliver?
We deliver regularly to the Caspian and Volga regions and to Black Sea ports, and we can combine SKL parts with other makers' parts in one shipment.
